“Are you sure we’re safe here?” Lestrade asked.

“Oh yes, I told him I was going to Broadstairs for the week.”

“But we’re in Brighton.”

“I must have confused the names.”

“By accident.”

“Of course,” Watson nodded.  “And then on my way to the station I called in to see young Inspector Hopkins and told him I was away for the week.”

“In Broadstairs?”

“In Broadstairs, and Holmes would be on his own and might appreciate some company.  Hopkins was putting his coat on even as I left his office.”
