Lestrade had invited us onto the roof of Marble Arch.  From there Holmes was able to watch his suspect moving amongst the crowd milling around Speaker’s Corner.  To the casual observer he might be taken to be a pickpocket, but the man was not there to steal small items from the unwary.

Suddenly, Holmes shouted, “Now!”

At a signal from Lestrade two officers moved through the crowd to apprehend both the suspect, now in possession of a small package, and the man who had passed it to him.

The package of state papers would be returned to their rightful owner.

Ah, very nice. I had to look up Marble Arch, but I imagine this could well be filed under the 'espionage stories.'

I didn't know there used to be a police station inside Marble Arch - or indeed there were rooms in it at all ^_^ That surprised me - I'd assumed it was all purely decorative.

Very neat use of the location. And I imagine there are plenty more stories that could use the police station too.
