“Holmes,” I said, watching him peering closely at an article in the newspaper, “I do wish you’d wear your glasses.  You may not like admitting to needing them when you are elsewhere, but I am fully aware the effect of the years is having on you.”

“I would,” Holmes replied grumpily, “but another effect of the years is that I cannot remember where I left them.”

I sighed and took my own reading glasses off, preparatory to helping him find his.  As I opened my case to put them away, I saw another pair inside, showing unforgettable signs of misuse.

On the plus side, Watson keeping track of stuff Holmes has misplaced is nothing new in their association.

Perhaps some kind of glasses chain would be suitable for Holmes? ^____^

In theory, but he'd probably decide to use the chain for something else and lose the glasses again.
