March Activity Post
Mar. 10th, 2018 08:01 amFor this month’s activity, we would like you to try combining titles from the canon in order to generate ideas for new stories.
For example:
Put 'The Blue Carbuncle' and 'Silver Blaze' together and you could have 'Blue Blazes' - a fic in which Holmes and Watson descend into the Underworld to rescue Mrs. Hudson. Who then refuses to be rescued because she's enjoying the relative peace and quiet.
Or put 'The Cardboard Box' and 'The Three Students' together and get 'The Cardboard Students' - a professor comes to Holmes with the problem that more and more of his students are being replaced by cardboard cutouts in his lectures. Are they being kidnapped? Holmes investigates...
‘The Resident Patient’ and ‘The Noble Bachelor’ gives us ‘The Patient Bachelor’. Watson has now been married 15 times. Lestrade attempts to gather the courage to express his feelings during the brief period before Watson finds another wife.
‘The Naval Treaty’ and ‘The Beryl Coronet’ leads us to ‘The Naval Beryl’. A precious jewel has been stolen from the bellybutton of a Duchess during a fancy dress party. Can Holmes avert a scandal?
So, essentially you pick two (or more) canon stories, come up with your new title and then give a brief summary of what the story would be about!
As always, you needn’t take part in this activity if you don’t wish to. Once you’re a member, you can post what and when you want—as long as you keep to the 500 words or less wordcount and the ACD Holmes ‘verse. AUs, crossovers and fusions are all permitted, as long as the characters remain essentially recognisable as the original ACD versions.
Please see the profile for the full posting guidelines!

Date: 2018-03-11 01:19 am (UTC)Empty builder – Have you ever heard of the fungus that takes over insects and forces them to do things they wouldn’t normally? If interested, take a look at this (https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2017/11/how-the-zombie-fungus-takes-over-ants-bodies-to-control-their-minds/545864/) article. Fungi are super creepy.
