Title: A Blue Carbuncle Renga
Length: 14
Rating: Gen
Author's Note: A renga is supposed to be composed by several poets. One starts with a haiku, then another poet adds a couplet of 7 syllables per line, then a third poet adds a haiku, then a couplet, and so on. If the muse moves you, I invite you to add to my haiku in the comments. The only requirement would be that it would be about "The Blue Carbuncle."

One fowl Christmas Eve
said Missus to the Baker
'Your goose is nigh cooked!'

Is just as good as first was

No joy for geese though
First’s impending fate gave it
A lump in the throat

1000 pounds would be like winning the lottery in those days - considering that Violet Hunter was offered 100/year as governess, twice the usual rate.

That's exactly why I wrote that Sherlock60 story (https://sherlock60.livejournal.com/669185.html)about poor Peterson discovering the downside to suddenly being rich (long-lost relatives showing up, people clamoring for money and getting ugly about it, etc.), and getting rid of it so he could go back to work.

A man who shared her longings

Solders the bar of the grate
Then bars surround him

Haven't got another bit of the poem yet but just wanted to applaud that last couplet ^__^

But now Holmes seeks goose
And follows trail to 'Alpha'
From thence to market
