The activity this month involves Hallowe'en costumes. Taking a leaf out of the book of their American cousins, the characters of the ACD world have decided to dress in fancy dress. And perhaps you would like to choose the costume for them—describing it in as much detail as you like. For example, Mrs. Hudson might like to be a Gibson girl—with Bessie doing her hair, and Mr. Holmes lending her the corset.

Leave your suggestions in the comments!

As always, you needn’t take part in this activity if you don’t wish to. Once you’re a member, you can post what and when you want—as long as you keep to the 500 words or less wordcount and the ACD Holmes ‘verse. AUs, crossovers and fusions are all permitted, as long as the characters remain essentially recognisable as the original ACD versions.

Please see the profile for the full posting guidelines!

Lestrade has a fur suit, ears, muzzle, and tail, but no one can tell if he's supposed to be a rat, a ferret or a bulldog....

Billy is resplendent in one of Holmes' old suitcoats and his third-best top hat, recreating the detective's mannerisms so accurately that Watson has a choking fit and has to leave the room.

Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Turner steal the two black silk masks lying around after The Illustrious Client and with their capes and swords defend all the lowly landladies against their tyrannical tenants. Ahead of their time (by about 20 years), they call themselves Sly Foxes (or, you know, Zorros)

Watson shaves his moustache. That's it. No one knows who he is.

Watson was planning to be an Egyptian pharoah, and when Holmes found out the part he was expected to play he got the hump.

Mr. No-Legs (the snake from The Speckled Band) also dresses up as Sherlock Holmes, because it's the only creature cleverer than him. He has everyone fooled--until he stops for a drink of milk.

Mrs Hudson, Bessie and Esme were wearing long black dresses and pointed hats. They were all ready to join the rest of the 'coven' (Regent's Park Landladies Gin and Pumpkin Social) and reached into the broom cupboard to retrieve their brooms. They were not amused to find Watson and Lestrade claiming to be a very large spider which was living in the cupboard.
