Welcome to the November activity post!

...if they are repeated I have Mr. Holmes’s authority for saying that the whole story concerning the politician, the lighthouse, and the trained cormorant will be given to the public. [VEIL]

"It was a ship which is associated with the giant rat of Sumatra, a story for which the world is not yet prepared." [SUSS]

Among these unfinished tales is that of Mr. James Phillimore, who, stepping back into his own house to get his umbrella, was never more seen in this world. [THOR]

Dr. Watson is forever tormenting and intriguing us with hints of untold cases. And this month you have a chance to get in on the action.

In the comments below, and using just one sentence, try and come up with the most intriguing untold case yet.

Some examples:

Although I am not at liberty to relate it, I will never forget the strange case of the teetotal drunkard.

And then there was the pit of terrible flora, which for a while led to such a worrying shortage of gardeners in the West London area.

“Watson,” said Holmes, “swear to me you will never tell the story of the bellows, the dark lantern, and the bicycling bloomers.”

And if you should feel the urge to go away and write up any of your untold cases, that would be great too!

As always, you needn’t take part in this activity if you don’t wish to. Once you’re a member, you can post what and when you want—as long as you keep to the 500 words or less wordcount and the ACD Holmes ‘verse. AUs, crossovers and fusions are all permitted, as long as the characters remain essentially recognisable as the original ACD versions.

Please see the profile for the full posting guidelines!

Hey, I've been looking for a fic of yours (I think it's yours) where the animals celebrate something other than Christmas, like solstice or something. Do you know what I am talking about? I can't find it. Maybe I imagined it.

"A Holiday in the Country" - that was my Great Mouse Detective take on Blue Carbuncle. It was the Watson's Woes WAdvent offering for Dec. 25 last year. Here's the AO3 link (http://archiveofourown.org/works/5531012).
