Holmes inclined his head.  “Yes, I have, your lordship.”

“Why haven’t you arranged for the culprit to be arrested?”

“I feel it is rather a delicate matter, one which perhaps you should consider a little further before you act precipitously.”

“A thief is a thief.  Explain yourself!”

“Have you taken a look at the new collar worn by the Dowager Duchess’ little dog?”

The Duke considered and then said, “You don’t mean the diamonds have been attached to the collar?”

“You may want to reconsider your intentions.”
