Well,
holmes_minor is up and running! We’re so pleased to see so many new members, and thank you so much to everyone who’s contributed so far. Just a reminder that if you want to post in the comm, you must be a member. This is simply to avoid problems with spam posting: everyone is welcome!
Now that we’ve got going, we want to have a look at what activities we could do in the comm.
We’ll continue to offer a new prompt at the beginning of each month. But we also want to have an activities post in the middle of the month. We were thinking we might compile a list of activities that would circle round and each pop up once every few months—though there would always be the opportunity for members to suggest new activities.
Anyway, here’s a few ideas to get the discussion started. These aren’t things we’re definitely going to do—they’re just to get the ball rolling:
1. Workshops for various microfiction or poetry forms: looking a bit closer at a particular form, having a go at writing it, and then discussing afterwards what we all come up with. A mod could run the workshop, or a member could volunteer.
2. Prompt fests
3. Remixes: maybe (with permission) take a fic or poem written in one microfiction form and use it to create a fic or poem written in another.
4. Occasional competitions
thesmallhobbit has also made the suggestion that we could have an extra activity on special days. For example, on Holmes’ birthday (6th Jan, aka the Epiphany, aka Epiphany Tart Day), on the day Holmes and Moriarty faced each other at the Reichenbach Falls (4th May), and on the anniversary of the Battle of Maiwand (27th July).
Please let us know what you think of these ideas in the comments. What would you like to see happening in the comm?

[Frankles should be back tomorrow, assuming her telephone wire is better]
