Characters/Pairing: Mrs Hudson, Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Rating: G
Warning/Content: There is something missing from Mrs Hudson's cupboard, so she goes to accuse the usual suspect.
Mrs Hudson opened a cupboard door and then slammed it closed in annoyance, before stomping up the stairs into 221B.
“Mr Holmes,” she demanded, “what have you done with my soup tureen?”
“I’ve not seen it,” Holmes replied, with a suspiciously charming smile. “Perhaps Watson has.”
Dr Watson was about to protest his undoubted innocence, when Mrs Hudson said, “I can think of no reason why the doctor would want a soup tureen, and even if there was one, he would have had the manners to ask to borrow it. You however…”
“Why would I need one?” Holmes began. His protestations might have carried more weight if, at that moment, there hadn’t been an ominous crack and a sulphurous smell began to fill the room.
Mrs Hudson beat a hasty retreat, pausing only to say, “And next time I open that cupboard door I expect to see a soup tureen inside. I am not too concerned as to the pattern on the tureen, most of the rest of the set has departed in a similar fashion to where I suspect the current one is heading. And do make sure you open the window!”
Watson sighed. “I presume that means I need to go and order a new tureen and charge it to your account.”
“Yes,” Holmes agreed. “I think you’d better!”
