Title: The Theatre
Form/Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairing: Dr John Watson, Mr Sherlock Holmes
Rating: G
Warning/Content: A play is no longer on

“We were fortunate to see Mr Oscar Wilde’s play, The Importance of Being Earnest, last week,” I remarked to Holmes one morning over breakfast.

“They have taken the final step and taken the play out of production, I presume,” Holmes replied, lowering his own newspaper.  “I suppose it was only time before they would; they had already removed Wilde’s name from the programme and advertising.”

“Better to do that than risk having the theatre closed entirely, I suppose.”

“Indeed.”  Holmes gave a small smile.  “What would our great West End be like if all the theatres were to be shut?”

If one writer's sexual peccadilloes means they close a play, by that logic they should have shut down Parliament.
