Mrs Hudson waved until the train had finally cleared the platform at King’s Cross station.  Then, turning to her companion she said, “Right, let’s go and get the bus back to Baker Street.”

When they had crossed the road and were waiting at the bus stop, Mrs Turner said, “You don’t seem as pleased as I was expecting you to be, having seen off Mr Holmes.”

“Just because I was waving,” Mrs Hudson replied, “Doesn’t mean he was actually on the train.  He’ll be back before we are.  But hopefully his adversary will have made the same assumption you did.”
