The Ferret arrived back at 221B looking very happy.

“Where’ve you been?” Mouselet asked.

“I’ve been to see Poley.”

“I thought that was over.”

“We remained friends.  I still see her quite often.  You know she has perfect vision.”

“What?” Mouselet was understandably surprised, Poley being a mole.

“Oh no, I wouldn’t ask her for her opinion on which outfits I look best in.  But she’s a great judge of character.  She considers what we’re like inside, not our physical looks.  She says that however handsome a ferret I may be, she wouldn’t like me if I wasn’t kind inside.”

Yes, physical beauty is all very nice, but it's only a bit of surface decoration for the person inside. Poley seems a wise little mole - and very like Holmes in her outlook.
