And I’m running, or rather marching, late. My apologies.
Thank you so much to
mafief for the idea for this activity. She has sent me a graphic which explains how to play a game:
Describe the plot of your favorite book in exactly six words! But don’t say what it is, let us guess.
Naturally I’m going to alter that slightly to ‘describe the plot of one of the canon stories in six words’. Leave your description in the comments and then the rest of us can guess which story you’re referencing!
A couple of examples, one rather in the style of a riddle and the other a little more transparent:
She heats iron. Press your suit!
This is The Solitary Cyclist. Miss Smith (a smith being someone who heats and works with iron) is ‘courted’ (press your suit!) by both Carruthers and Woodley.
Boy loses treasure. Boy gains treasure.
This is of course The Sign of Four!
As always, you needn’t take part in this activity if you don’t wish to. Once you’re a member, you can post what and when you want—as long as you keep to the 500 words or less wordcount and the ACD Holmes ‘verse. AUs, crossovers and fusions are all permitted, as long as the characters remain essentially recognisable as the original ACD versions.
Please see the profile for the full posting guidelines!
