The thunder boomed.
But unperturbed by the storm raging outside, a doctor began to assemble the retrieved parts into a fresh new whole.
Lightning flashed, and the doctor cackled.
“Yes! Finally it’s come to life!”
Holmes looked up. “Everything… all right, Watson?”
“Indeed!”
Watson turned and smiled.
“The Strand’s been nagging away for one last story but I’ve managed to stitch something together.”
Picking up his notebook, he read aloud.
“The Scandal of Beryl… and her League of Devil’s Cyclists!”
He set the notebook down again.
“What do you think?”
Holmes frowned. “Frankly, dear fellow, I think it sounds monstrous.”
