Fic: By The Canal
Aug. 6th, 2018 04:25 pmTitle: By The Canal
Form/Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairing: Dr Watson, Mr Holmes
Rating: G
Warning/Content: Watson and Holmes are walking by a canal. Photos taken by me in my own moment of happiness at lunchtime today.
We walked back to the village via the footpath beside the canal. The sun was hot, and we walked slowly, savouring the countryside. The canal itself was quiet, very different from years past, before the railways took over transportation of goods.
We saw a coot and its half-grown chick, and watched giant dragonflies flitting about. I pointed out the bulrushes to Holmes, and he in his turn spotted two swans secluded beneath an overhanging tree.
It was idyllic, and such a contrast to the darkness which we had seen in the hall, and to which we would have to return.
