Title: A Visit to the Dressmaker
Form: Double drabble
Characters/Pairings: Two original characters, and their clients: Mrs. Hudson and Miss Hyams
Rating: G
Warnings/Content: N/A
Author’s Notes: This and the following fics were written for the May 2016 activity.

“Now, who’s next..?” The dressmaker consulted her appointment book. “Ah, yes. Mrs. Hudson.”

She looked up at her apprentice.

“Tell her to come through, Sarah.”

“Yes, Miss Brown.”

Sarah disappeared into the next room and returned with two ladies—one strikingly tall, the other somewhat shorter.

Miss Brown raised an eyebrow.

“Good morning, Mrs. Hudson.”

“Good morning, Miss Brown.”

Mrs. Hudson cleared her throat and indicated her companion.

“This is Miss Charlotte… er… Hyams.”

“A pleasure to meet you, Miss Hyams.” Miss Brown smiled politely. “So, how can I help you both?”

Mrs. Hudson shifted awkwardly. “Miss Hyams requires a new frock. However, she is a little reserved, and we wondered if I might do the measuring—under your direction?”

“That would be perfectly fine.”

Miss Brown solemnly handed over her measuring tape.

“Miss Brown,” said Sarah after the two clients had left. “Miss Hyams… I think she might be…”

Miss Brown sighed. “Sarah, in this profession you have to learn discretion. That was Mrs. Hudson’s tenant, Mr. Holmes, in need of a new disguise. It’s nothing to be concerned about.”

She furrowed her brow.

“No, the only thing that worried me, was Dr. Watson pretending to be Mrs. Hudson.”

Title: Lady in Red
Form: Drabble
Characters/Pairings: Holmes, Watson
Rating: G
Warnings/Content: N/A
Author’s Notes: Holmes and Watson are getting ready.

“Holmes,” said Watson. “I’m really not sure about this.”

He swished his skirts and looked anxiously in the mirror.

“It will be fine,” said Holmes, as he adjusted his own dress. “Truly, Watson. The veil covers your moustache neatly, and the corset gives you a most convincing feminine shape.”

He glanced at his friend.

“And I’m certainly not having a strange woman measuring me. It’s unfair to her and she’ll immediately be able to tell I’m a man.”

“That wasn’t quite what I meant.”

Watson turned to Holmes.

“Don’t you think I should have gone for the blue velvet instead?”

“Good night?”

“Well…”

Watson settled himself in his chair.

“We thought it might be ‘exciting’, if Lestrade tried on the corset.”

Holmes arched an eyebrow. “And… was it?”

“In a way.” Watson winced. “He passed out and it took me three quarters of an hour to release him again.”

Hee, hee. Very nice. The morale of the story is the best part. Puns! And I think Watson made the right choice: the blue velvet would've clashed with the veil.

Dr Watson disguised as Mrs Hudson ... you've just added to the contents of my bunny hutch. Would you mind if I used the idea?

Sad about the ferret in the corset, clearly its figure was a little too corpulent. The last line is a gem.

The blue velvet would have matched Watson's eyes, though (swoon).
