"All you need do is provide a distraction for ten minutes, that’s all we need,” Holmes said.

“I am not playing the barrel organ again,” Dr Watson protested.

“You can’t,” the Ocelot observed.  “It’s not been repaired from when the Ferret misjudged a dramatic leap and landed on top of it, breaking part of the mechanics.”

“I’ve found a string puppet for you,” Holmes continued, as if no-one had spoken.  “Try it out, while I explain my reasoning so far and my plan for the afternoon.  You’ll then understand why your role is so important.”

It was a rather convoluted explanation, so Watson only listened with half an ear, while trying to discover how to make the wooden donkey trot across the table by pulling the relevant strings.  Suddenly there was a clunk.

“Ah!” Watson said. 

 “It appears Mr Holmes has talked the hind leg off the donkey,” Mouselet giggled.
