Title: The Keys to the Mystery: a musical
Form: 221B
Characters/Pairings: Holmes, Watson. Mrs. Hudson, Wiggins, Lestrade
Rating: G
Warnings/Content: N/A
Author’s Notes: For the Jan 2021 prompt: Singing.
B Flat: An army doctor and a detective meet/ And so they’re off to Baker Street!
A Flat: “Dear sirs, I have indeed some rooms for hire!/ Did you… just set my curtains on fire?”
A Minor: “My name is Wiggins of the Irregulars, and I get a small child’s wage!/ Because from STUD to SIGN it seems... I really just don’t age.”
G: “Here’s Inspector G. Lestrade!/ Mrs. Hudson, let me in!/ I have muddy feet, and a dripping coat, and a need for tea, and it’s only just past midnight.../ Mrs. Hudson, why the gin?”
Atonal Interlude (absolutely no key at all): “Aaaah aaah aaah ah aah aaah aaaaaaah!”
(“Can you make out what Mrs. Hudson is screaming about, Watson?” “Not a clue, Holmes. But I think the fact she’s locked us out is warning enough. Another long stay in Cambridge?”)
Coda in B Flat Minor: “Our very own bee flat! Our own little hive!/ But Queen Sherlock, do you know the address of our home?”
“I have made my deductions and so I can state/ we’re in Sussex now, my dear Drone.
By the way, dear old girl, which Watson are you? In this light I really can’t see.”
“Have you... just set light to the beeswax? Oh, never mind. Your majesty, I am number two twenty-one Bee.”
