It's very much as if Watson is redoing childhood - learning his letters all over again (Braille), walking without tripping over obstacles he wasn't aware of when he could see and avoid them. And I pictured Holmes as the heart-in-mouth parent, having to watch as their proud kid pedals her first two-wheeler bike after taking some nasty spills.
