They might laugh good-naturedly at the Ferret, but their own hearts were engaged as much as his was. You know, I had never thought about this before - of course Mouselet and Aemelia are just as soppy as the Ferret ^___^
And the Ferret is perhaps being rather brave. The little mice are content to admire from afar, but the Ferret is actually risking making a fool of himself in the hope of gaining a proper relationship.
