Fic: Spring Cheer: Gen
Title: Spring Cheer
Length: 221b
Rating: Gen
Summary: Watson's in a good mood.
“…such a fine spring day,” continued Watson, returned from his rounds, “all my patients, to a one, are on the mend; I distinctly heard the first cuckoo as I passed through the park; fortune even decided to shine its light on me in the form a certain wager in my favour, and now, upon return home, I find a magnificent tea laid out for me, yes, the world is my oyster, the world is in my palm or in my pocket, ha, ha, ha, thank you for your care, it is a warm day, if it does not offend, dear ladies, I shall remove my jacket while I partake of this scrumptious feast…
“Certainly, Doctor,” said Mrs. Hudson genially. She gave Bessie a significant glance, one that went unnoticed by her tenant, as the young maid helped the good doctor out of his jacket. “Enjoy your tea,” she added before sweeping out of the room with Bessie close behind.
“Mrs. Hudson?”
“Yes,” said Mrs. Hudson, agreeing to the arrangement before it had been spoken aloud. “I will mend the hole in the pocket of Doctor Watson’s jacket, and you will clean up the trail that hole has allowed to be deposited on our clean floors and stairs. And we’ll be quick about it so as not to spoil the doctor’s bonhomie.”
