Fic: Yellow Irises: G

Title: Yellow Irises
Form/Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairing: Dr Watson, Sherlock Holmes
Rating: G
Warning/Content: Retirement era

We were enjoying our walk by the side of a nearby stream when I stopped and said to Holmes, “That’s something I would like in our garden.”

“What, a duck?” Holmes said and I could detect the note of surprise in his voice.  “I’m not sure how Wordsworth will take to having a duck in the garden.”

“No.”  I shook my head in exasperation.  I still couldn’t tell whether Holmes was being obtuse or really had missed the point.  “I mean those flowers, the yellow flags.”

“Good idea.  I’m sure my bees would like them.”

“I wasn’t thinking of them!”

Hee, this is both fun and sweet! I love poor Watson's exasperation, and the photo is such a great addition -- that duck is looking straight at the camera, I bet she was posing for you!
