Fic: Mrs Hudson's Knitting: G

Title: Mrs Hudson's Knitting
Form/Word Count: 170
Characters/Pairing: Mrs Hudson
Rating: G
Warning/Content: Mrs Hudson has different knitting categories

Mrs Hudson divided her knitting into categories, which depended on her mood. On a good day she would happily knit delicate baby bonnets and bootees, which were passed on to a local charity. Or to Dr Watson when he knew of a particular family in need.

On a day which had been busy with callers and tradesmen, and she didn’t have the patience for delicate stitches, she would knit striped scarves using up oddments of wool which had been given to her for that purpose. The scarves were for the Irregulars, and others of their families. Each scarf was unique, and the children delighted in comparing their scarf with that of their friends.

And lastly, when Mr Holmes had caused nothing but problems all day, Mrs Hudson knitted dishcloths, incorporating a number of rude words which couldn’t be vented elsewhere. The dishcloths were donated to various soup kitchens, who were always grateful and didn’t comment on the odd mistakes in the middle, since they still performed their task perfectly well.

Love this! I can so see her venting about Holmes while knitting the dishclothes! I can also just as equally picture the Regulars and their families fussing over and adoring the scarves, and the love with which they were made! :)

One of the best protest signs at the Woman's March in 2017 (the day after D****d T***p's inauguration) was a piece of needlework showing a fist holding a threaded needle and the cross-stitched words: "I'm So Angry I Stitched This Just So I Could Stab Something 3,000 Times."
