Warning/Content: Preparations have begun for A Christmas Hamlet
"Right, that’s our costumes for the Christmas play agreed on,” Aemelia Vole said. She and Mouselet had a selection of pieces of material spread out on the table. “Reversable cloaks for all three of us, black on one side, with red linings of sufficient standard they will make outer layers.”
“And can be used again at a later date,” Poley the Moley said appreciatively. She wasn’t involved in making the costumes but would fashion accessories to go with them.
“The maroon is perfect for me as the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come,” Aemelia continued. “All dark and sinister.”
“I shall have the scarlet,” Mouselet said. “It’s bright and cheerful for Christmas Past. And are you happy with the crimson, Poley?”
“Yes, it suits me for Christmas Present,” she agreed. “Jolly but not frivolous. But what about Ebenezer Hamlet? What will he be wearing?”
“The Ferret’s decided on black, with silver trimmings,” Mouselet said. “But Aemelia pointed out that Scrooge would think the silver was a waste, so we’re going with white broderie anglaise frills instead.”
“We’ve got the cut off bits from the summer frocks,” Aemelia explained. “Much easier to stitch than silver thread.”
“That sounds perfect,” Poley said.
