“Hold still,” Dr Watson said.  “It’ll heal much better if I put a couple of stitches in.”

“If you insist,” Lestrade muttered.  “Although I doubt a scar on my arm is going to make a lot of difference at my time of life.”

“It will also help to keep the wound clean, which, as you know …”

“Prevents infection getting in.  I have heard you tell Holmes that on several occasions, and you said the same to Hopkins when you stitched his arm last week.”

“But there’s one difference.”

“Which is?”

“I didn’t offer to kiss him better once I’d finished.”
