Fic: Tea Bags: G

Title: Tea Bags
Form/Word Count: 185
Characters/Pairing: Mr Sherlock Holmes, Mrs Hudson
Rating: G
Warning/Content: Mrs Hudson, continuing the tradition started by the late Queen Victoria, is not amused.

“What is this?” Mrs Hudson asked, holding up a small square of silk.

“It’s a tea bag, Mrs Hudson,” Sherlock Holmes replied with a smile.  “I have been sent a few by my friend in New York.  They’re a wonderful new idea.”

Mrs Hudson peered suspiciously at the contents of the little bag.  “I suppose I could carry one of these in my handbag, in case I visited someone who did not have any tea and then pass it to them.  But I cannot imagine I would be friends with anyone who didn’t have a caddy of tea available.”

“They’re not for taking when one goes visiting, you should put them in the teapot.”

“Why do I need to empty a lot of little bags when I already have my tea ready to spoon into the pot?”

“It will make your life easier – no more necessity to clean out the teapot.”

“Mr Holmes,” Mrs Hudson said firmly, “cleaning the teapot is one of the easier chores in this household.  And the item which causes most stains is too large to enclose in a silk bag.”

Hehe! You rock, Mrs Hudson.

I also just realized that there is probably more to the procedure of making and drinking tea than I realize.
