Title: Improbable gaps

Summary: Holmes states the culprit entered through a narrow gap.
“Oh, Holmes, you’re expecting me to believe—!” I shook my head emphatically. “It couldn’t be done. A man could not fit through that gap. Impossible!”
“Improbable, Watson,” said Holmes soothingly. “And did I say a ‘man’? No, I merely said all other methods of access were, in fact, impossible.”
“Blast it, Holmes, if you expect me to believe that the murder was committed by a trained snake or a clever mongoose or a belligerent orangutan, well—"
“Watson, calm yourself.”
“A contortionist?”
“Closer than the orangutan.”
I stared at the gap. The penny dropped.
“Oh, God…”
“Yes?”
“A child.”

Summary: Watson patches Holmes up after a fight.
“You should know better.” I said as I wound the bandage around Holmes’ battered hand. “Fighting at your age.”
Holmes attempted to twist his busted lip into an unrepentant smirk, but it cost him, and he hissed.
“I’m lucky to have a doctor who makes home visits,” he said when he was able to say anything. “Addison is not as lucky.”
“Addison, hmm? Who knows, maybe he has a long-suffering doctor-companion to patch him up.”
Holmes began to chuckle wheezily.
I stopped my ministrations. “What?”
“He’ll need a dentist!” Holmes tapped a finger to his front teeth. “Mind the gap!”
