Our rambles are glacial affairs, set by a shattered body. They must be intolerably dull to my companion, this man I scarcely know.
Yet he finds a bench when I'm at the verge. He laughs, easily. Claims, "There is no better school on humanity than this. Now, do let me know when you wish to carry on."
("So much for afternoon walks," he will one day complain. Or, "I abhor effort without purpose."
Yet, he had. I will only smile, then, that day I've recovered enough for him mutter: "When will you cease carrying on so?")
